Do you ever have a series where when you start watching it, you don’t want to stop, and if you stop, it feels like you’re committing a crime? If you’re looking for one, I highly recommend the “Has Fallen” series. This series falls under the action/thriller genre and is so good that it will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat!
The “Has Fallen” series consists of 3 movies, with a fourth on the way. The movies in chronological order are “Olympus Has Fallen,” “London Has Fallen,” and “Angel Has Fallen.” Each movie stars Gerard Butler as Secret Service Agent Mike Banning, who defends the United States from terrorist attacks and national security threats.
“Olympus Has Fallen” was filmed in 2013 and introduces Mike Banning and the role he plays protecting the President of the United States. The movie starts out at Camp David, a presidential resort in the woods, where they are getting ready to head to the White House for dinner. While on the way to the White House, the presidential limousine slides off the road, and they are only able to rescue the president, leaving the first lady to plummet to her death. It fast forwards a month later to the President hosting the North Korean government at the White House. While meeting in the Oval Office, terrorists attack the outside of the White House, forcing the Secret Service to move the president, government officials, and North Korean officials to the bunker. While in the Bunker, the North Korean government hijacks and ties up all United States officials, giving them complete and total control of the Nuclear Arsenal. Mike Banning, who was across the street at the time, rushed to the White House, where he took his chances with the terrorists hidden in plain sight and stopped the North Koreans from causing damage on United States soil.
Three years later, in 2016, “London Has Fallen” hit the theaters with the same actors! This time, they are on foreign soil attending the Prime Minister of London’s funeral when a group of terrorists attack the celebration of life as soon as the President gets out of his limousine. The majority of the security detail is eliminated, leaving Mike Banning with the sole responsibility of getting the President out of there. They get the President to the helicopter, Marine One, and up in the air, headed toward the airport. During transit, they pass over a building where someone stood with a rocket launcher aimed at the helicopter. All of a sudden, Mike Banning has one goal: getting the President to safety yet again while being chased around London by terrorists. Does Mike Banning succeed? This thriller will leave you on pins and needles.
In 2019, they released their latest film, “Angel Has Fallen,” which featured Morgan Freeman as the President of the United States. Freeman had a desire for hunting, so Banning and the team took to the country. While out hunting, they are ambushed by mercenaries using drones, who frame Agent Banning. Banning realized he was being framed when he woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed, charged with attempted murder of the United States President. To prove his innocence, Banning must escape custody and go after the mercenaries with his long-lost dad. Is the third time an actual charm? Does he continue to impress the world and prove his innocence?
Although we don’t know what the fourth film is about yet, we know that it is in production and is expected to be another jaw-dropping thriller following these three very successful movies. All the movies together have made half a billion dollars, leaving fans in a state of shock. If you have not tried this series, I definitely recommend it!
