Thrift shopping: the act of shopping at a thrift store, flea market, garage sale, or a shop of a charitable organization and at a cheap price.

Thrifting is so cool and so fun to do on a regular day. Many high school kids thrift, but many kids don’t! I like to thrift to find new clothing that wouldn’t be in any of our clothing stores around Cape. I’d honestly rather go thrifting first before I go to the mall because there’s a 90% chance that I’ll find whatever I’m looking for, or even better! The price is more than affordable, and it’s also fashionable.

My favorite thrift shop is Goodwill, located here in Cape. I love Goodwill because everything is color-coded, so if I’m looking for an orange shirt, I’ll know exactly which rack to start looking at first. When I first enter the store, I just look around and whatever catches my attention first, I go over and look at the item and nine-times-out often I add it to my cart. The thing about thrifting is, everything is everywhere, I prefer to buy the name brand clothing such as; Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, etc. There isn’t a rack that just says ‘name-brand clothes” you just have to search for them.

Searching for the specific brand that you’re looking for is actually exciting because when you find something you like plus the brand you like it’s a plus! I actually feel pretty accomplished when I find clothes that I could’ve bought at a different store, that’s in the same condition, at Goodwill where I’ll pay half the price. At one point in my life, I just wanted to thrift every day, especially on payday! I’m not ashamed to say I was addicted, lol! I started this thing where I’d go every day and just look for vintage windbreakers, I started a collection. The jackets were colorful and so pretty that I couldn’t stop buying them! A plus to this is knowing that nine times out of ten nobody around the area will have the same clothes on as you.

I’ve received many compliments on my clothing choices, especially the Nike vintage windbreakers I found in Goodwill. When asked where I bought the jackets from I always say Goodwill, the reaction I get is always funny! Especially when I tell them the price! I think most people don’t shop at thrift stores because of their pride! Some people feel like they’re too good to go shopping in used clothes. People fail to realize that thrifting saves you tons of money & you can find anything while thrifting! You never know what you might find while thrifting!

If you’ve never been thrifting, I recommend you to go to the nearest thrift store and just explore what you can find! I can guarantee you that you’ll leave out with at least three cute items!
