Valentine’s Day is a holiday many people look forward to. Students at Cape Central buy candy grams and carnations every year to show appreciation to those they love. This gives people a chance to celebrate those they love and care for. Those in relationships go on dates and receive gifts. Student Alena Copeland says, “My boyfriend and I went and watched the sunset and colored. Then we went to dinner and Andy’s. After that, we went to his house and exchanged gifts”.
Some would prefer to skip Valentine’s Day completely. It can feel awkward and overwhelming, especially if you are someone who is not in a relationship. A great alternative to celebrating Valentine’s Day is celebrating Galentine’s Day. Instead of celebrating romantic relationships, you can celebrate friendships. Many people do a gift exchange so that everyone can feel appreciated on this special day.
