LEGO CLUB
Cape Central High School has a new club this year called the LEGO Club. The LEGO Club founder, Lily Madlock, started the club so that all the LEGO sets in the library could be showcased and to provide students with an opportunity to get together and have fun building LEGO sets. The club’s seven members get together every Monday and build LEGO sets, non-LEGO brick kits, Gundam model kits, and free builds. Currently, the biggest challenge they have is building the Hogwarts LEGO set, but this month, they are also building a haunted house set and a haunted pirate ship with LED lights. The club also holds competitions, like their upcoming LEGO building challenge. If you would like to join the LEGO club, they meet after school in the library every Monday, and contact Librarian Mrs. Hayes.
WILDLIFE FIELD TRIP
The Wildlife class at Cape Central High School recently, on October 24th, went on a field trip to the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center guided by Mr. Leimer and Mrs. Templeton. Taught by Mrs. Templeton, the class covers Ecology as they learn to identify specific species, their habits, habitats, and how they all work together in their life cycles. After a stop at Andy’s Frozen Custard, the class went to the Conservation Center and first went on a 45-minute tour while also being on a scavenger hunt. For the rest of the trip, they went on a two mile hike winding through the White Oak Trace Trails, admiring rivers, ravines, and deep hollows. Mrs. Templeton says, “My personal highlight was the pleasure I had of watching the students interact with all the different variations of nature.”
