The Government shut down started December 22nd and is now going into its 33rd day as of January 23rd, 2019. The main topic of this most current Government shutdown is the infamous wall. Trump is pushing for Congress to support and supply the wall itself as well as the funding for the wall to be built. This proposition has led the Government to be shut down for the last couple of weeks and counting. The Government shut down has caused several deaths in National parks. Thus, several families have fallen victim to tragedies. Several people, ranging in ages, died at a national park several days after the shutdown started. One of which was a 14-year-old girl who fell 700 feet to her death at night, after sneaking off the lot that she and her parents were on. Another person was found after falling down and suffering from a severe head injury.

On another note, Tax time is going to come up soon. This is going to also cause a big uproar among the older generations of people because that means the return of money that several people depend on to buy things such as a bigger car or other appliances that they need, they now have to wait longer, if not by a whole year, before they can get their tax return. Trump has been quoted that the shutdown could last for months, or even years. With no end in sight, the American people sit on the edge of their seats wondering who will come on top in this gigantic ordeal.

Due to the event that’s going on, let’s look at the most current polling when it comes down to an approval rating of the President. The current approval rating for Trump is 47% approve and 52% disapprove of our President.  Some of that is due to the fact that he, Trump, himself has had a major part in the Government shutdown. The topic, again, is mainly the Border Wall that Trump wants to build. After the idea of Trump saying that Mexico was going to build the wall backfired on him, he turned to Congress for support. The estimated cost of the wall has gone up to right around $21.6 Billion! Due to that information, the support that Trump might have gone down by an amount that was not expected. As of now, that is also why his approval rating is so low. With no end in sight, the American people can only sit back and pray for a compromise to happen soon, or some more tragedies might happen.
