College Football Playoffs

The college football season is full of ups and downs. Throughout the season teams across the country compete to try and make the AP poll top 25 rankings. On the Sunday of championship weekend, the selection committee releases the final rankings of the season. The top four teams make the playoffs and play on New Year’s Day. However, this year is different. The games are taking place on New Year’s Eve due to New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday. The College Football committee did not want to try to compete with the NFL games taking place on New Year’s Day.

 

The number one team of the regular season is the University of Georgia. They are the number one seed in the playoffs after finishing 13-0 and winning the SEC championship. They will take on the number 4 seed.

 

The number two team is the University of Michigan. They are the number two seed in the playoffs and will take on the number three seed. Michigan finished the regular season 13-0 and defeated Purdue in the Big Ten championship.

 

The number three team is Texas Christian University (TCU). They are the number three seed in the playoffs and will take on the number two seed. TCU finished 12-1 with their one loss coming to Kansas State in the Big 12 championship game. 

 

The number four team is Ohio State University. They are the number four seed in the playoffs and will play the number one seed. Ohio State finished 11-1 with their one loss coming to Michigan 45-23 back on November 26.

 

The number two seed Michigan will take on the number three seed TCU in the VRBO Fiesta Bowl. It will take place on Saturday, December 31st in Glendale, Arizona at State Farm Stadium. It will air on ESPN at 3 pm. 

 

The number one seed Georgia will take on the number four seed Ohio State in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bow. It will take place on Saturday, December 31st in Atlanta, Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It will air on ESPN at 7 pm.

 

The two winners will play in the National Championship on Monday, January, 9th 2023. The game will take place in Inglewood, California at SoFi Stadium. It will air on ESPN at 6:30 pm.
