Can someone please tell me what the heck Doga is?
If you do not already know it is yoga done with your dog, and yes, it just happened here in Cape Girardeau. Cape Parks and Recs offer a variety of events here in town that include your favorite furry friend. There have been dog meet and greets, community walks, and races where you guessed it, your dog can run too. Have you seen more dogs in town lately, if so, it may be because Southeast Missouri University now allows students to have dogs in dorms. It is getting very hard to deny that Cape Girardeans love their dogs! We have a couple of dog parks here in town, one of them is called Dog Town Playground at Kiwanis Park. Dog Town comes complete with a doggy drinking fountain and a tunnel to run through and even offer free bags to pick up your dog’s doo. There are a few super cute stores catered to dogs and their owners like Mississippi Mutts. Mississippi Mutts carries a range of pet products from foods to clothes to the cutest do it yourself doggy wash.
As sure as people will walk around downtown and eat ice cream from the Port, they will just as likely be walking a dog. As sure as we will all freeze for the Christmas parade there will be a few different floats that include some dressed to the nines pups. Which brings up the age-old question of, is a dog really man’s best friend? I think in Cape Girardeau, many people would agree that their dog is their best friend.
