For this month’s spotlight, the Tiger Newspaper chose Karsynne McAlister, a hardworking student-athlete at Cape Central. McAlister has not only been a dedicated student academically, but also outside of school in the pool with our Cape Central swim team.
McAlister recently went to the Class 1 State Championships and represented our school with the Cape Central swim team, and helped them place third with only four swimmers! As a freshman, she was a state champion in the 50 freestyle and was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay. She shares, “I was so shocked, it felt so surreal, and it was an incredible experience in general, but it was so amazing as a freshman knowing I still have three more years to do this!”
Being a student athlete can be challenging at times, but McAlister finds a balance to manage it all. “I try my best to get all my work done in school and still do it right. If I don’t complete it, I finish my work and study hard before I go to practice in the afternoon. It requires a lot of hard work, but it is worth it for the outcome.”
Cape Central is very proud of your accomplishments inside and outside the pool. Congratulations on being a state champion, and we are looking forward to seeing what you can do next year!
