Football
With a good start to the Cape Central football season, they strive to keep their perseverance up. Sophomore, Logan Margetta, speaks on this season so far compared to last years, “I would say we are much better as a team this year compared to last year just because we don’t have multiple players playing on both sides of the ball. But overall this season has been a lot more fun because we have been winning so much.”
Boys swimming
As the end of the boy’s Cape Central swimming season is approaching, the boys push to try to get the best times to try to advance to the state meet. Phin Theall, the state champion in the 100 fly last year, expresses how he hopes to do for his final state, “With winning last year I have big expectations for this year. I hope to win the 100 fly again, and hopefully pull out a win in my second event.” The boy’s swim team may be small, but they have a lot of talent.
Cheer
While regionals went very well last year, the cheer team did even better this year! The 2024 season went great and has turned out to be one of the best seasons ever so far. Adeline Cook says that this year, “We improved a lot and I loved watching everyone get better.” She says that she plans to continue to cheer in college and has already attended several recruit clinics.

After high school, she’s planning to go and continue tennis in college.
Girls Golf
The golf team is on the small size with just eight players, but even though they’re a small team, they turn out to be a great team. The girl’s golf team’s number one player is Harper McClard. She made state this year and says, “The last 2 years I have come extremely close to making state and this year I finally made it and will be playing on October 21st and 22nd.” McClard says that she did so well this season because of the hard work she put in during the off season, which makes her even more excited for her senior season. She says she loves her teammates and is very sad about this being the last season that she gets with the seniors.
Volleyball
The team predicts districts will go great and way better than last year! The team to start preparing for districts is only practicing around their weak spots and doing circuits at the start of practice. Ella Hukel says, “We have a well balanced team with great talent. Our record this year is one of the best our volleyball team has ever had at Cape Central.” Ashlynn Hickey says, “I would say I am a little nervous since I have not fully taken it in that if we lose in districts that will be it for me.” Both Hukel and Hickey feel sad this being their last high school season and will miss all their underclassmen. Hickey states, “There isn’t a different group of girls I would want to go out with.” Hukel plans to continue volleyball at the University of South Carolina Aiken and is excited for the higher pace, more competitive environment, and new teammates. While Hickey is planning and very excited to go into the medical field.
