So far in 2024, the college football world has been nothing less than chaotic. Top ranked teams have been falling to unranked teams every single weekend so far this season. While the season is just now getting to its half way point, there are still so many more upsets to come. An upset is when a team who isn’t that great, and might not have as much star potential, beats one of the best teams there is who has a lot of star players. One of the biggest upsets so far this season was when unranked Vandebilt took down #1 Alabama 40-35. This was the first time Vandebilt defeated Alabama since 1984. Another upset was Kentucky taking down #6 Ole Miss by a final score of 20-17. This was Kentucky’s biggest win since 2007, when they beat #1 LSU. And the craziest win of the season, Northern Illinois upsetting #5 Notre Dame at Notre Dame stadium. This will go down as one of the biggest upsets in the history of sports. Notre Dame was 29 point favorites to win the game, and then the unthinkable happened.
This is what makes college football so much fun to watch. With upsets happening at any time, it always makes you want to come back and keep watching the next week. So next time you catch yourself doing nothing on a Saturday afternoon, sit down on the couch, turn on the tv, crack the windows open, and enjoy a nice fall scented Saturday of College football. The upsets are just beginning.
